We hope your 2019 has been everything you hoped and dreamed it would be. Placer Title Company is certainly thankful for our great customers and friends for making our year great.

But there is another group that has been key to our success – this year and every year in our history:   our employees. In fact, Placer Title is built on a foundation of team pride. Our founder, the late Leo French, knew how important it was to show gratitude to his employees and treat everyone like family.

You could say that Leo was a visionary, especially in this area. Internal culture is more important than ever to your current teammates and potential new hires. While flexibility – which we have plenty of here at Placer Title – and growth opportunities will help you cultivate a desired environment, appreciation from office leaders, managers and owners can be the real key to employee morale. Did you know that Americans today say they would rather have a kind boss than a 10 percent raise? Other studies have shown there’s a correlation between receiving thanks and well-being too.

And saying thank you to the people who make your business go every day is one of the easiest ways to show gratitude. Here are a few ideas that can help your team feel the love a bit more.

  1. Put a small basket (or Christmas stocking) on everyone’s desk so they can receive anonymous kudos. When that person is away from her desk, team members can drop in their compliments. Do this on a regular basis for an office-wide pick-me-up!
  2. If a customer tells you that your team went above and above for them, pass along this win  in a tangible way. We suggest bringing in lunch or a favorite sweet treat. Make sure you read the positive feedback for everyone to hear while people are gathered around too!
  3. After a very busy week or month, take time to give a team member or partner a thank-you gift for working in overdrive. This is another tangible way to acknowledge you appreciate employees’ hard work.
  4. For those of you who have multiple office locations – or teams that don’t interact with each other much – make sure you bring everyone together and celebrate your shared success. Our parent company, MLHC, does that to kick off every year with teams from different states, and it’s one of our favorite weekends of the year.

Thank you for all the memories in 2019, and we are excited for the new year. Let us know how we can help you with your title escrow needs now and in the future.
