Merced County

Merced is an exceptional city to visit. It offers plenty of eventful activities around the area that keep visitors coming back. With many attractions and historical sites in the town and close by, Merced can even make visitors want to live here full time!

Our city makes a great full time residence for you and your family! University of California Merced was first established in the early 2000’s and has had a constant increase in students since, making it great for those of you about to have kids who are leaving the nest. For those who have younger kids, Merced also offers plenty of family friendly attractions such as the Applegate Park & Zoo, Castle Air Museum, the Merced Fruit Barn, and more!

Merced is also known as the “Gateway” to Yosemite. If you haven’t been before, Yosemite is a great place to visit with family and friends offering hikes to Nevada Falls and even the famously known Half Dome! It was originally discovered by John Muir back in the late 1800’s, and what had drawn him in was all the amazing sites Mother Nature has to offer!

If you run out of ideas of where to visit next, we have our Merced Visitor Services and California Welcome Center. With plenty of brochures, coupons, and options for hotels, you are sure to find something to do or make you want to stay longer!

As Merced continues to grow with a population over 70,000 people, we welcome new-comers with open arms! Come and experience Merced!
